Groot Transfer Station - Chicago

Construction of a new 38,565 square foot waste transfer station located within the corporate limits of the City of Chicago near O'Hare International Airport. Design-build services for demolition of an existing transfer station at 1759 S. Elmhurst Road, modifications to an existing Material Recovery Facility (MRF) at that same location, and development of a new transfer station on an adjacent property. New construction consists of precast and steel, 18” thick concrete push walls, and 12” tipping floor. The scope of work also includes the widening of the access ramp on the south side of the elevated maneuvering area to allow for two-way traffic prior to demolition.
Other improvements to the elevated tipping ramp and other site improvements on the existing property also performed. Features interior and exterior platform scale as well as a scale house.
